DC United goalkeeper Tyler Miller will miss the rest of the 2023 season.

D.C. United goalkeeper Tyler Miller will miss the rest of the 2023 MLS season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

The 30-year-old sustained the injury, a torn rotator cuff, in D.C.'s 3-1 defeat to Philadelphia Union on August 26, as Miller was unable to play the entire game and was substituted off at halftime.

Miller started 25 games for head coach Wayne Rooney in 2023, making 64 saves to go along with his 64% save percentage while keeping six clean sheets.

The New Jersey native joined the Black and Red in the offseason after stints with Minnesota United and LAFC, and was a 2023 MLS All-Star via a coach's selection by Rooney.

In D.C.'s final stretch of the regular season, Rooney is expected to call on Alexander Bono, the former Toronto FC shot-stopper with Luis Zamudio also an option in the ranks.

With just five games remaining in the regular season, D.C. hope to hold on to the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference as they currently sit in ninth place with 35 points. The Black and Red, fresh off a 0-0 draw with Charlotte FC, prepare to take on the in-form Atlanta United at Audi Field on September 20.
