YouTube quietly reintroduced a video sorting feature that will save users a lot of time, scrolling, and finger ache.

Last year, YouTube's video sorting feature was reduced to just two options: "Latest" and "Popular." The third option was called "Oldest," and as you'd expect, instantly sorted the videos on a channel so you could see the oldest ones first. It was especially useful if you wanted to see how your favorite channels first started out.

As Android Police reports, when the option to sort by oldest first disappeared, even people at YouTube thought it was a bug. However, it later turned out to be a purposeful change and to see the oldest videos on a channel you'd just have to scroll instead. For channels that have been uploading videos for years, it proved to be quite the chore.

Thankfully, the Oldest sorting option has now returned without any fanfare to both the desktop and app versions of the service. YouTube has yet to confirm whether this is just an experiment or the feature making a permanent return, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's back for good.

In other good video streaming news, it's now easier to earn money on YouTube and Paramount recently decided to let us stream the first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for free. However, if you're using an ad blocker in your browser, don't be surprised if YouTube videos won't play.
