Rachel Brosnahan responds to ‘Superman: Legacy’ casting rumors on ‘The View’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘The View’ has managed to secure some brilliant celebrities for their segments, and most recently it has been Rachel Brosnahan. The co-hosts try their level best to squeeze out some of the juiciest details from these actors and actresses about their current and potential future projects. Their latest target, Brosnahan, was put on the spot as Sara Haines questioned her about ‘Superman: Legacy.’

Brosnahan was on ‘The View’ to promote her show ‘The Marvelous Mrs Maisel’ but given the recent rumors, Haines questioned her about the upcoming superhero movie, 'Superman: Legacy' directed by James Gunn. Haines did not hesitate but did the co-host, viewers, and fans get the answer they wanted from Brosnahan, or were her lips sealed shut?

‘I know you can’t confirm or deny’

Despite the writers’ strike, it looks like the co-hosts came prepared this time around unlike when Karen Gillan was on the show to talk about ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3’ which seemed more like a train wreck one couldn’t look away from. Haines faces Brosnahan as she asks the much-anticipated question in an attempt to put the casting rumors to rest. Haines says, “You are one of the frontrunners to play Lois Lane in the upcoming reboot ‘Superman: Legacy.’ So I know you can neither confirm or deny but congratulations on the talk.” As Haines framed her statement, Brosnahan looked awkward and almost a little uncomfortable as she tried to cover it up with a smile. Haines then goes on to ask her how it would be to play that part.

Brosnahan is quick to shut down the rumors as she says “Take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt” but also claims it would be “extraordinary” to play the character if given the chance.

Could Rachel Brosnahan be the next Lois Lane?

James Gunn has begun casting for the roles of Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor and there are a few frontrunners for Lane’s character. Brosnahan’s name comes up quite often in relation to Lane, but also in the rumored context that she might be too old to play the character. Gunn is reportedly looking for a younger cast for ‘Superman: Legacy.’ This would certainly explain Brosnahan feeling rather awkward about answering these casting rumors on ‘The View.’
