LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On Tuesday, July 11, 'Batman Returns' actress Michelle Pfeiffer went candid on the 'Lipstick on the Rim' podcast to talk about her Henry Rose unisex fragrance line and how her late father, Richard Pfeiffer, served as an inspiration. Michelle told host Molly Sims that she found herself drawn to scents that brought back memories of her father as she was formulating what eventually evolved into Henry Rose.

As per Daily Mail, Michelle, 65, who recently debuted her fragrance in Sephora stores, visited the retailer's Fifth Avenue location in New York City to talk about her business. Henry Rose was created by the 'Ant-Man' actress in 2019, and getting a spot in the cosmetics behemoth is a significant step for the company. Following her appearance on the 'Lipstick On The Rim' podcast, Michelle posted a clip of the conversation to her 2.9 million Instagram followers and fans, along with a note.

Who was Richard Pfeiffer?

Richard Pfeiffer is the father of Michelle and her siblings Rick Pfeiffer, actress Dorothy Diane “Dedee” Pfeiffer, and actress Lori Pfeiffer. Richard was born in Carrington, Foster County, North Dakota, on October 28, 1933 as the son of Dorothy Straley and William J Pfeiffer. There is no information available about his early life, educational history, or qualifications.

Richard was married to Donna Jean (née Taverna; 1932–2018), a stay-at-home wife and native of North Dakota. Richard relocated to Midway City with his family where he worked as an air-conditioning worker. He and his wife Donna led a quiet life away from the public eye. Michelle was the second of four children raised by her parents. Michelle's mother Donna Jean died in 2018, at the age of 85, and her father Richard died in December 1998 at the age of 65.

Richard's daughter, Michelle was one of the most prominent and highest-paid actresses of the 1990s. She has long been hailed as one of the most attractive and gifted actors in the world. The inaugural issue of People's "50 Most Beautiful People in the World" featured Michelle on the cover. She is regarded as one of the greatest actors of her time and has appeared in an array of classic movies.

'You can always track it back to a really pleasant experience'

On Molly Sims' podcast, Michelle discussed a time when she unknowingly drew inspiration from her late father, Richard Pfeiffer. When she was looking for a specific fragrance, she told Sims, "I didn't know if it was possible to actually formulate one scent that could compete in the marketplace as a fine premium fragrance."

The three-time Oscar nominee continued, "Through this process of the perfumers constantly saying to me, "Where does this take you? Tell us, does it take you to a place?" I realized what I was trying to formulate was my father's cologne." When it comes to fragrance, Pfeiffer admitted to Sims that she sometimes finds it challenging to discover something she "really" loves, but when she does, she throws herself into it all.

Her decision to choose scents that made her think of her late father, who she said used Old Spice, triggered an emotional response in her. She added, "I didn't know that's what I was doing, and I didn't know that was why I gravitated toward that particular category in fragrance - it's because it's very emotional and you can always track it back to a really pleasant experience in your life."

She admitted that deciding on a fragrance name and a scent profile was equally difficult. "I kept thinking and reflecting on what feels organic and authentic to this brand. And I kept coming back to my kids. And so it's their middle names, and so it's Henry and Rose and you know, and it also reflected that it was a genderless brand, which was important," Michelle continued.
