WhatsApp is making it a little harder for prying eyes to peep your locked chats.

In May, the secure messaging app added Chat Lock, which let you move threads to a private folder that could only be opened with the device password or biometric login. It's now enhancing that with Secret Code for Chat Lock.

Private discussions can now be locked with a separate password, not just your device passcode. There's also the option to hide chats from your chat list; "they can only be discovered by typing your secret code in the search bar," WhatsApp says. It's a nice extra layer of privacy that gives off 007 vibes since nobody would know you even have any secret chats until the code is entered.

As Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of WhatsApp owner Meta, noted on his WhatsApp channel, Chat Lock means "no one can ‘unintentionally’ discover your most private conversations.”

Meanwhile, "whenever there’s a new chat which you want to lock, you can now long-press to lock it rather than visiting the chat’s settings," according to WhatsApp.

Secret Code is rolling out now; it should be available globally in the coming months.
