Passenger Weigh-In

New Zealand’s Civil Aviation Authority will require that its national airline weigh passengers departing on international flights from Auckland International Airport through July 2, CNN reported. The program, which Air New Zealand calls a passenger weight survey, is a way to gather data on the weight load and distribution for planes, the carrier said. The data will be made anonymous to protect travelers’ privacy.

Musk in Beijing

Elon Musk landed in Beijing in what is the billionaire’s first visit to China in three years, and met with Foreign Minister Qin Gang. Musk said Tesla Inc. is willing to keep expanding in the country, and he and Qin spoke about the merits of maintaining ties between China and the US, according to a government statement late Tuesday. Qin told Musk that China is committed to developing a good business environment for foreign companies, the statement said.

Holmes Heads to Prison

Former Theranos Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Holmes is scheduled to head to federal prison where she was sentenced to spend the next 11 years, The Associated Press reported. Holmes was recommended to be incarcerated in a women’s prison camp located in Bryan, Texas.

Memorial Day Shooting

At least nine people were wounded when gunfire broke out between two groups at the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk in Florida, The New York Times reported. One of the victims was in surgery Monday night and the other eight were in stable condition. It is unclear what led to the shooting.

NBA Finals

The Miami Heat defeated the Boston Celtics 103-84 and will face the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals. The Heat are only the second No. 8 seed to have ever reached the NBA finals, according to media reports.
