Ones to Watch isn't returning in FC 24 Ultimate Team with EA Sports opting to kick off the new era with UEFA Road to the Knockouts instead.

Ultimate Team fans await EA Sports FC 24's full release on Sept. 29 as a new era of soccer/football beings after the developer and FIFA parted ways.

A staple of the FIFA/FC Ultimate Team cycle each year is the Ones to Watch promotion. The promotion traditionally honors the biggest names in the world who transferred clubs in the summer. They receive cards with their new clubs and every card is a live item. Ones to Watch cards upgrade every time that player receives a performance based upgrade as in Team of the Week or Man of the Match. As well, EA Sports introduced other mechanics based on a team's league form.

Well, it seems that Ones to Watch isn't returning this year in FC 24.

What Happened to Ones to Watch in FC 24?

Ones to Watch isn't returning, as made apparent by early reveals of UEFA Road to the Knockouts cards. OTW has become stale over the years, though last year with the World Cup mechanic built in cards were eligible for more upgrades. Now, EA Sports will be kicking off the full release with Road to the Knockouts which follows clubs competing in UEFA competitions.

Even more evidence is that EA Sports opted for a cosmetic based promotion during Early Access with Nike Mad Ready. Five players received Nike designed cards with no upgrades to help facilitate objectives.

FC 24 Road to the Knockouts Start Date

Road to the Knockouts is scheduled to begin on Friday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. ET. It's currently unknown if the promotion will span two weeks with different promotional squads in packs, but there will likely be plenty of objectives and SBCs for players to complete.
