With the official trailer having been released for the new We Are Newcastle United documentary, 90min offers you an update on everything you need to know about the series.

'Sunderland Til' I Die', 'Welcome to Wrexham' and the 'All or Nothing' series have all helped popularise football docuseries. Now, it's Newcastle United's turn under the spotlight.

Eddie Howe's side enjoyed a wonderful season on the pitch last year, despite justifiable criticism about how that success came to pass. Newcastle fans have a renewed sense of optimism about their club and will now get to look behind the curtain in a new docuseries.

'We Are Newcastle United' is coming to screens imminently, documenting the club's trials and tribulations last season. The show will give viewers access to unseen footage, player and staff interviews and plenty of overly-dramatic music to accompany it all.

Here is everything you need to know about the programme.

Where can I watch We Are Newcastle United?

The show has been funded by Amazon and will subsequently be shown exclusively on Amazon Prime in the UK, Ireland and the Nordic region as the company continues to expand their football portfolio.

The docuseries will be free for Amazon Prime members and will likely attract similar attention as the recent All or Nothing series produced by the company about Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

How many episodes will there be and when will they air?

'We Are Newcastle United' is made up of four episodes, which will follow the entire of the 2022/23 season. Each episode will be narrated by club legend Alan Shearer and will likely follow the campaign chronologically on the way to the Magpies' Champions League qualification.

The first episode airs on 11 August and the following three episodes will be released each Friday for the next three weeks.

Is there a trailer?

The first official trailer for the series dropped on 26 July and contains just under two minutes of footage advertising the show.

The trailer features clips of Howe's pre-game team talks, interviews and comments from the club's hierarchy and players and some matchday, on-the-pitch footage. Undoubtedly, more snippets of the show will be drip-fed across social media platforms in the coming days and weeks.

What can I expect from We Are Newcastle United?

To get a decent grasp of what to expect from the docuseries, it's worth taking a quick look at any of the 'All or Nothing' series also on Amazon Prime.

The most recent series was about Arsenal and followed the Gunners' progress across the campaign, ultimately attempting to highlight the narrative of the season and manufacture a dramatic story arc. For Newcastle, that arc will have a positive ending and will offer fans a chance to get to know the club and players better.

However, whether or not the series will address the issues surrounding the club's ownership, the human rights record of Saudi Arabia and the concept of sportswashing remains to be seen. Given the show is aimed at Newcastle supporters, it's unlikely that it will be covered in a great deal of depth or scrutinised to the extent that some neutral fans may be hoping for.
