Vinicius Junior has lamented his recent performances for the Brazilian national team after a win-less October international break.

Brazil dropped down to third place in the CONMEBAL 2026 World Cup qualifying standings this week thanks to a disappointing draw with Venezuela and an even more disappointing defeat to Uruguay.

While the Selecao can be seen as being rather unfortunate to have drawn with Venezuela having had 15 shots on goal and accrued 71% possession, the loss to Uruguay was thoroughly deserved - Brazil managing just two shots on goal, both of which were off target, during the game.

Key to Brazil's lack of potency in front of goal was the disappointing performances of the likes of Vinicius, Rodrygo Goes and Gabriel Jesus. Speaking to Ge Globo after the loss on Tuesday, the former openly admitted that he was not happy with his showings for his national team.

"I was very bad in the game, I was very bad in the last game too," he said. "I have a lot to improve. The team also has a lot to improve. But it's about having a clear head to be able to do the best for the team.

"I think that my cycle in the national team has not yet been what I expected. I have a lot to evolve to be able to play the best I can, as I do in Real Madrid. Of course, the pressure is also great. And I am always prepared - wanting to evolve, wanting to improve as quickly as possible to be able to help the team."

Vinicius recently returned from an injury lay-off, missing a month of action after suffering a muscle strain in a win over Las Palmas, and has impressed since getting back in the Real Madrid lineup.

Prior to the international break, Vini was in fine form, netting two goals and an assist in consecutive wins over Napoli in the Champions League and Osasuna in La Liga.
