Tyler Adams who became the youngest player to captain a USMNT World Cup squad since 1950 and was one of the youngest captains at Qatar 2022, underwent hamstring surgery in March and Leeds has confirmed he’ll be out for the rest of the season.

With one foot seeping into the mud of relegation, Leeds United is going to need a miracle, or at the very least, every member of its squad to rev up the dogs inside to find a way to Premier League survival.

Unfortunately for Leeds gaffer Sam Allardyce, it looks like the fight will go down without a key piece in his midfield: Tyler Adams.

The 23-year-old, who became the youngest player to captain a USMNT World Cup squad since 1950 and was one of the youngest captains at Qatar 2022, underwent hamstring surgery in March and now Allardyce has confirmed he’ll be out for the rest of the season.

"No, not that I believe. Sadly," he said in reference to a possible Adams return this season.

Adams joins Colombian striker Luis Sinisterra and defenders Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas on Leeds’ injury list.

Sitting momentarily in the 18th spot with 31 points, ahead of Leicester (30) and just behind Everton (33), Leeds showed some chutzpah in a draw against Newcastle this week.

They’ll be facing West Ham and Tottenham in their final matches of the season.

Adams was instrumental in stop-gapping the middle since joining from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the offseason last year and in his absence, Leeds dropped six of nine matches and conceded an average of three goals per match.

This will also affect the U.S. as it squares off against Mexico on June 15 in the CONCACAF Nations League.
