Ubisoft will reimburse employees who must travel out of state to receive healthcare in the wake of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization.

Ubisoft will expanded its healthcare benefits to include a travel reimbursement for employees who must travel out of state to receive healthcare, the company announced Thursday.

The expansion comes after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the constitutional right to an abortion enshrined in Roe v. Wade, making abortion difficult or impossible to access in more than half of states.

"Following the Supreme Court ruling, we want to reiterate our unwavering support to our US team members and our belief in reproductive rights as human rights," wrote Chief People Officer Anika Grant and VP of Global Diversity & Inclusion Raashi Sikka.

"Our benefit offerings have expanded to include a travel reimbursement program for any US employee to use when they are unable to gain access to the healthcare they need where they live. If permitted by state law, this program will be implemented on September 1, with claims reimbursement retroactive to today, and will extend to US team members and their covered dependents."

In the immediate aftermath of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision handed down Friday, Ubisoft was one of several prominent games companies to voice support for reproductive rights. It joins Bungie, Sony and EA, among others, in expanding its benefits to reimburse out-of-state travel costs.
