Toronto FC has fired head coach and sporting director Bob Bradley, following a disappointing start to the 2023 Major League Soccer campaign.

Assistant Coach & technical director Mike Sorber has also been relieved of his duties, effective immediately. Terry Dunfield will now step in as interim head coach, after spending the past few months as manager of the Toronto FC Under-17 squad.

"Bob has been a consummate professional with Toronto FC and we thank him for his passion and tireless work during his time here. We are all disappointed that we were not able to achieve the results we expected," said Toronto FC President Bill Manning.

Bradley first joined Toronto FC in November 2021 from Western Conference giants LAFC. He disappointed during his first full year with the Canadian side, missing out on playoffs after concluding the 2022 campaign in 13th place with just 34 points in 34 games.

And things didn’t seem to improve this year, as the team currently boasts mere 19 points from 20 games and a 3W-7L-10D record to sit in 14th place.

Dunfield now takes over in an attempt to salvage the team in the remainder of the 2023 season. He kicked off his career in football as a player in England with Shrewsbury Town before featuring for Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps. The interim manager transitioned into a coaching career, working through the ranks of the team’s academy prior to assuming his current senior-team role.

Toronto FC return to action on July 1 against Real Salt Lake, and attempt to get their first win since May 27.
