CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Jerry Springer’s gravesite has reportedly been pictured with an adjacent burial plot designated for his wife Margaret 'Micki' Velton, who is still very much alive. The legendary talk show host and former mayor of Cincinnati died peacefully in his home on April 27, only months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

'The Jerry Springer Show' host was laid to rest during a traditional Jewish ceremony in the Chicago suburbs on Sunday, April 30, 2023. The "small" private ceremony was reportedly attended by his close friends and family members. Springer’s final resting place was seen for the first time in new pictures obtained by TMZ. The grave has a large headstone and bench with his surname, "SPRINGER." There is also a separate slab where his first and middle names are inscribed as Gerald Norman. Next to that is a second burial spot with a different gravestone designated for Velton, whom Springer married in 1973.

Were Jerry Springer and Micki Velton ever divorced?

The witty talk show host and Velton were married for over two decades before reportedly divorcing in 1994. But a source close to Springer’s family told TMZ that the couple were never apart, and they've been together as man and wife this whole time. They said reports of their divorce were "complete bulls**t" and there weren't any marital issues as had been widely speculated. The tipster also noted that Jerry was a very private person and never felt the need to publicly address why Micki had been referred to as his ex-wife all these years.

It was also revealed that the Springer family is planning to organize a much larger public service/celebration of life on June 9 at a Memorial Hall in downtown Cincinnati. The event's planners are preparing for a sizable turnout and will let about 500 people inside the venue. As per MEAWW’s previous reports, the fans, who were told to "take care of yourself" at the end of every show by Springer, will be able to pay their respects to him for the final time on May 16 at a public event in Cincinnati. Live music and numerous celebrity appearances are anticipated to be part of Springer's public burial.

'He’s irreplaceable'

Springer died unexpectedly just a year after declaring his intention to retire while "still healthy.” Paying him a moving tribute, Jene Galvin, a lifelong friend and spokesman for the family, said in a statement, “Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried, whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word. He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart, and humor will live on.”
