Ranking the top five goals of Major League Soccer matchdate 17

Week 17 in Major League Soccer saw some incredible goals scored.

From Inter Miami’s Ian Fray netting a thunderous consolation goal in their 2-1 loss, to Cucho Hernandez adding to his season tally, matchday 17 didn’t disappoint on the attacking front. As the league progresses into the summer, the gameplay on the field will only continue to heat up. The goal on this list contains some spectacular goals that are worth a closer examination

Here are all the best goals you might have missed…

5. Julian Carranza (vs. CF Montreal)

Julian Carranza got on the scoresheet again for the Philadelphia Union in their 3-0 win over CF Montreal.

The Argentine slotted in a sumptuous curling shot that just went into the bottom right corner of the net.

It was a lovely strike that was the beginning of a brace for Carranza in that match.

This win puts the Union up to third in the East, just a point behind Nashville SC.

4. Luciano Acosta (vs. Chicago Fire)

Luciano Acosta did it again for FC Cincinnati as his 83rd-minute strike sealed all three points for the men in blue and orange vs. the Chicago Fire.

The Argentine expertly navigated the Chicago defense as he nimbly carried the ball into the back of the net to lead Cincinnati to their 12th win of the year. His first touch was sublime, and the finish was even better.

3. Hany Mukhtar (vs. FC Dallas)

Hany Mukhtar continues to make the case to win back-to-back MLS MVPs.

The 28-year-old was again on the scoresheet for Nashville SC as they comfortably beat FC Dallas 2-1.

Mukhtar put on the dance moves against Dallas defender Jose Martinez as he waltzed passed to score Nashville’s second of the night.

The Nashville star is now up to 10 goals and six assists on the season as Nashville sits in second in the Eastern Conference.

2. Ian Fray (vs. DC United)

Though Miami recently fired their head coach Phil Neville and may have lost their recent game against DC United, that didn’t stop midfielder Ian Fray from unleashing a wicked shot to give Miami a consolation goal just before the final whistle at the weekend.

The 20-year-old hit his goal with venom while it launched into the back of the net. This strike sees Fray score his first professional goal in Miami colors.

While it did end in points dropped for Inter Miami, that doesn’t mean the goal isn’t worth a re-watch.

1. Cucho Hernandez (vs. Charlotte FC)

The Columbus Crew is on a roll, and forward Cucho Hernandez is a big reason for that.

His latest strike in the Crew’s 4-2 win over Charlotte FC was so good that it undoubtedly is the best choice for number one on this list.

The 24-year-old expertly started the play by linking up with his teammates in midfield before running into the box and smashing home the Crews’ third goal of the night. The first-time finish by Hernandez was a sight to see and deserved the top spot on Week 17’s list.
