Tekken 8's release date has not been announced.

Tekken 8, the long-awaited next installment in the Tekken franchise, was announced in a trailer during the Sony State of Play presentation on Tuesday. This news comes after a 25-second teaser was showcased at EVO 2022 earlier this summer.

Tekken 8 Release Date

As it is still in development, Tekken 8's release date has not yet been announced. However, it will be playable exclusively on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, and PC. Maintaining its position as the longest-running storyline in a video game, Tekken 8's plot picks up after Heihachi Mishima's defeat in Tekken 7, "focusing on a new rivalry" throughout Kazuya Mishima's quest for world dominance.

Bandai Namco has capitalized on its use of Unreal Engine 5, with director Katsuhiro Harada stating that Tekken 8's level of detail is what will primarily set it apart from Tekken 7, which was released in 2015. While the trailer includes in-game footage, Harada's team is working to "enhance the detail even further" while the game is still in development. Additionally, the significance of the contents of the trailer will become revealed when the game is released.

Detailed information on Tekken 8, such as its character customization features, designs, and whether it will include the 1-v-1 style of Tekken 7 or the team-based styles of the Tekken Tag series, is still unknown. The trailer marks the first of the major news of this new installment.
