Brett Goldstein is the exact opposite of foul-mouthed Roy Kent in 'Ted Lasso' while Phil Dunster doesn't own Jamie Tart's thick accent

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Apple TV+’s ‘Ted Lasso’, which revolves around an American soccer coach packing his bags and landing on English shores with limited knowledge of the game and the country, is winning hearts with each passing season. Ted is appointed as the coach of a struggling team named AFC Richmond who has players like Roy Kent and Jamie Tart. Roy was once the star striker of the team but after retiring, has taken up the job as an assistant coach while Jamie leads the forward line for the team.

Roy has a perpetually angry face with squeezed eyebrows and a coarse voice while Jamie with his golden flocks of hair has a thick accent which at times becomes difficult to comprehend. Brett Goldstein and Phil Dunster, who play the role of Roy and Jamie respectively, have done a tremendous job of bringing out the nitty-gritty of their characters. However, both Goldstein and Dunster do not sound like their characters at all in real life. And this secret was only recently revealed when the two actors showed up together in a recent interview.

Reel voice vs real voice

The actor duo stopped for a quick chat on a red carpet with Entertainment Tonight about the finale of 'Ted Lasso' where Dunster who plays Jamie stated that he will be off to the woods if anyone doesn’t like the final episode of the show. On hearing him speak, the fans were left speechless. The thick accent that the fans associate Jamie with was missing. He was speaking clearly as the blue sky.

Goldstein who is infamous for his role as the anger-filled Roy was holding the mic and spoke in a subtle voice that didn’t sound like he was shouting at you. In the show, Roy is known to play a character who speaks as if he’s shouting. He’s loud and foul-mouthed which no one could deduct after watching the interview. Goldstein came across as sweet and the frown which he always dons in the show was gone.

'I'm trying to process their real voices'

The fans of the show were completely taken aback by hearing the real voices of their beloved characters. They were praised for their acting abilities yet there was an aura of shock and awe. "I'm trying to process their real voices. Oh my god,” one fan wrote while another was trying to process what they had just heard. “Phil’s voice in IRL and Jamie Tart accent….be right back, trying to process.” A few fans were thrown off guard after listening to Dunster’s real accent. “Phil's real accent always throws me,” said one while another added, "Oh my, I cannot cope with their voice.”
