LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 1975 frontman Matty Healy may have enchanted Taylor Swift, but his controversial past has left fans dissatisfied with their new romance. Swift and her long-term British boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, split during her tremendously successful Eras Tour.

Despite being together for six years, Swift was quick to 'Shake It Off' and move on to the next. On Thursday, Taylor was photographed shaking hands with and "kissing" Healy in New York City. Swift and Healy's double date with fellow hitmaker Jack Antonoff and his fiancee Margaret Qualley was photographed by a fan.

Getaway Car 2.0! Here's why Taylor Swift fans believe 'romance' with Matty Healy is doomed

Swifties raced to the comments section after a sneaky fan recorded the sighting and shared their thoughts on the growing romance. While the affair received primarily negative feedback, some fans praised Swift's new beau.

"She looks happy; I'm happy for her," a TikTok user said in response to the fan's stealthy video. "HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS?! It's amazing," wrote another. While many fans were delighted to see Swift enamored with her rumored new beau, others suspected it was a "publicity stunt" considering Healy's history, as reported by RadarOnline.

'He is a racist rat'

"She looks happy two days later she will break up he is a racist rat," an angry TikTok user remarked. The remark appeared to be in reference to a string of inappropriate behavior and unpleasant remarks by the 1975 singer. Healy was chastised in April for comments he made about Ice Spice on the podcast 'The Adam Friedland Show'.

While Healy questioned Ice Spice's ethnicity, he imitated Scottish, Chinese, Japanese, and Hawaiian accents — and the comments were so offensive that Apple Music and Spotify pulled the episode from listeners' feeds.

Healy has received criticism for what seemed to be the Nazi salute while performing on stage at a show, as well as crossing lines with concertgoers — and even hugging female fans in the audience, as per reports.

'Never heard of this man'

Because of Swift's prominence, many of her followers have used TikTok to broadcast videos of Healy's scandals. "He has always sketched me out, and idk why and don't even know who he is until a month ago," a fan wrote on one montage of Healy-related problems. "Never heard of this man until now, but I have the ick." said another, as reported by RadarOnline.
