Take-Two, publisher of Red Dead Online, has responded to the disappointment felt by fans over the game's lack of content updates.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in an interview with IGN, "I've heard the frustration, it's flattering that they want more content, and more will be said by Rockstar in due time." Fans have felt that Red Dead Online has lacked meaningful content, especially in contrast to Rockstar's other online entity GTA Online.

The online campaign #SaveRedDeadOnline has been used by fans voicing their frustrations with the game and asking for more content.

But, according to the interview, any future update for the game is solely up to Rockstar. Zelnick confirmed that Take-Two would continue to support Red Dead Online but only in reference to the game's online servers.

Fans have felt that RDO has been sidelined in favor of GTA Online — a much older property that continues to earn Rockstar money and has received a number of major updates over its lifetime.

Despite the success of Red Dead Redemption 2, having sold 44 million copies as of March 2022, fans feel as though the entity and its online counterpart have been largely abandoned by Rockstar.
