Diane Keaton seemed to be uncomfortable during the interview as she asked, 'Why am I here?'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Diane Keaton's strange demeanor on-screen has perplexed viewers. The 'First Wives Club’ star, while visiting the sets of ‘The View’ on Friday, was not in a conversational mood. As the stars of ‘Book Club: The Next Chapter’ — Jane Fonda, Mary Steenburgen, and Candice Bergen — along with Diane Keaton, visited Joy Behar, Sara Haines, and Alyssa Farah Griffin of ‘The View’, Keaton was in no mood to answer any question directed towards her. The Academy Award winner even said “Stay away from me.”

As the hosts of the show were asking the four Hollywood legends about their takes on aging and experiences in Hollywood in their long-spanning careers, the Academy Award winner was in no mood to talk. As Griffin directed the question, “All of you have made me think about aging differently, and I think it’s so powerful to see you can just have so much fun at any age. Now, Diane, I have to ask…,” Keaton said curtly, “I had no fun at any age,” adding, “This is scary.”

Pointing towards the audience, the 77-year-old Hollywood legend said, “I mean, there’s a lot of people I’m looking at right now. Look at them. They’re amazing. They’re your people. Look, oh my God. Why am I here?"

‘My real-life experiences are rare’

While she opened up a little about her 'Next Chapter' co-star Andy Garcia describing him as “unbelievable” and “so charming,” Keaton was back at her awkward stance again when Griffin tried to ask her about any probable practical application of her real-life experiences to the roles she played. To this question also, Keaton replied, “My real-life experiences are rare,” adding, “We’re going to have to pass on that one,” which evoked a round of laughter from the ones present there.

Later, when Griffin went back to Keaton again while attempting to start a conversation, “Now, Diane…,” the host was met with another, “No, not me. Stay away from me.” while laughing nervously.

‘That’s me! Disgusting!’

The ‘Annie Hall’ star’s self-deprecation did not end here as when the host asked her about her TikToks including her viral dance on Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’, Keaton humorously said, “That’s me! Disgusting!” before adding, “That’s so stupid, I can’t stand it.”

She also wanted to drink to her embarrassment as she said, “Look at that, that’s a crazy person,” adding “I’m gonna drink up to that one.”

‘I'm kind of odd, but I'm doing fine’

Diane Keaton has been in it for quite a few days! During almost all of the interviews while promoting the second installment of ‘Book Club’, she has been displaying the same bizarre behavior. When being asked about the movie by The New York Times, her reply was sassy, “The movie’s fine,” before adding, “I did what I could, you know, sort of.” In fact, during the castmates’ appearance on Kelly Clarkson’s talk show on Thursday, she candidly said she was not willing to speak much. When Clarkson directed another question to Keaton, she replied, “Leave me out!” before adding, “I’m just going to sit here. I’m enjoying it,” reports Huff Post.

This interview was, however, not the only one where Keaton mocked herself. During an interview with ‘Extra’ while promoting ‘Maybe I Do’ in January, Keaton was in a similar mood. When the interviewer Jenn Lahmers asked Keaton, “I read something, Diane, about you the other day and I refuse to believe it… How long has it been since you've gone on a date?” the Golden Globe-winning actress said, “Let's say 15 years… They probably just thought, ‘Enough's enough… she's too weird’. I'm kind of odd, but I'm doing fine.” She added jokingly though, “Someday… someone will marry me… Maybe one of these nice men who have to deal with me today.”

'She may be iconic but unimportant'

A fan showed their disdain by saying, "She may be iconic but unimportant." While one fan said, "Weird because we say the same thing! love Diane even more!" Another criticized her behavior on the show, "A very poor actress pretending to be relevant NY acting like behar & jaba the hut goldberg." Another quipped, "She probably heard about 'fartgate'."
