Starfield lockpicking guide detailing how to use Digipicks so players can crack and hack everything in the game, plus why the Security perk is required.

This Starpick Digipick guide will have you cracking every safe, weapon case, cache, hacking every computer and everything in-between.

Hacking locks in Bethesda games are some of the most satisfying experiences. Being able to get into that specific door, weapon case, or even Contraband Cache, can lead players to a special piece of armor or weapon they might've not had access to previously. Starfield uses Digipicks to crack into anything, and players can advance their skill with the Security perk.

As well, Digipicks don't carry any mass meaning players can hoard as many as they can find without worry of becoming Encumbered.

Starfield Security Perk Details: How to Attempt Master Hacks

Here's the Security perk found in the Tech tree:

Players must pick a number of locks to be able to level up the Security perk.

How to Use Digipicks in Starfield

Players have to slot keys into multiple levels. Players will have multiple keys to choose from when going through a lock. Make sure you double check what keys you have access to for each lock before selecting a key. Players might end up slotting a three-pin key in a four slot level only to realize they don't have a single-pin key to access the next level.

Once players level up the Security perk, players will have the ability to see which Digipick key can enter in what level of the lock. Some might only be available for a later level of the lock, while others can go in multiple sections. If a design is applicable in a later level only, save that one for later and know that it's crucial for picking the lock or hacking the computer.

Players can only access Novice level locks before advancing to Rank 1 in the Security perk tree. Rank 4 is truly where things become super easy. It'll require two Digipicks to hack a lock, but players can eliminate keys that aren't required.
