Sofyan Amrabat has lamented Manchester United's lack of "luck" early in his maiden campaign at the club.

After a lengthy courtship, Man Utd secured the services of Amrabat in the final hours of the summer transfer window. The Red Devils agreed to pay an £8.5m loan fee, and will retain an option to sign the midfielder on a permanent deal for an extra £17.1m next summer.

To date, Amrabat has made five appearances in all competitions for his new club but has largely struggled to make an immediate impact on their fortunes - Man Utd have lost two of the five games he's played.

However, that has largely been down to the Moroccan being forced to fill in in a variety of positions due to the Red Devils' injury crisis. The midfielder has, in particular, been forced to fill in at left-back in recent weeks due to Luke Shaw, Sergio Reguilon and Tyrell Malacia all being injured.

Despite the team's poor results, Amrabat believes he has seen some encouraging signs and backed Erik ten Hag's side to get back to their best soon enough.

"I think I can say a lot of things, but I don't want to use them as an excuse," he told club media. "I think in life, but also in football, it never goes always only good, or top. You always have a moment that maybe it will be a little bit difficult, and now I think it's a bit like that at the moment.

"But we just started. We still have a very long season, a long way [to go]. I think we have played good games [and had] a lot of positive and good things.

"Maybe with a bit more luck, we’d have won the games that we didn't win. So I have a lot of confidence and I think yeah, we work very hard every day.

"Nobody will give it to you. You have to work for it. But we work very hard and I believe it will be fine. It will be good."

Man Utd will be looking to build upon their dramatic 2-1 win over Brentford, in which Scott McTominay scored two added-time goals, when they face off against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on October 21.
