Match report & player ratings from Sevilla 1-1 Real Madrid in La Liga.

Real Madrid had to come from behind to secure a 1-1 draw away at Sevilla on Saturday evening.

In a match full of scraps and fouls, David Alaba's own goal midway through the second half saw Sevilla take the lead, but Dani Carvajal's immediate response tied the scores up and ultimately secured a point for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

The win keeps Madrid top of the La Liga table, three points clear of Girona, who face Almeria on Sunday.

How the game unfolded

Madrid nearly had a comical lead after just four minutes. Sevilla failed to clear a corner and goalkeeper Orjan Nyland was beaten to the ball by Bellingham, whose cut-back was finished off by Valverde before VAR spotted the England star in an offside position.

Bellingham would then have his own goal ruled out. He finished off a counter-attack but several seconds after the official had stopped play for a foul at the complete opposite end of the field, seemingly not hearing the whistle.

Sevilla grew into the game and could have easily taken the lead. Carvajal had to head off the line after Ivan Rakitic's shot had beaten Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was immediately called on to make an excellent save to deny Lucas Ocampos from range.

The frenetic pace of the game continued as former Madrid hero Sergio Ramos cleared off the line, before Nyland stood firm and blocked an attempted volley from Vinicius as the clock ticked on.

Toni Kroos fizzed wide early in the second half before Nyland produced an excellent save to block Rodrygo's strike.

Tensions began to build as a series of scrappy fouls from both sides disrupted the tempo of the game, but Sevilla found themselves ahead with 16 minutes to go as Alaba sent Ocampos' cross into the back of his own net.

They wouldn't be ahead for long, however, as the excellent Carvajal went straight down the other end and powered home a header from a Kroos free-kick.

Kepa then needed to fly across his goal to deny Ramos a late winner against his former employers, who had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Real Madrid player ratings (4-1-2-1-2)

GK: Kepa Arrizabalaga - 8/10 - Made a handful of top saves to keep Madrid in this game. Could do nothing about the own goal.

RB: Dani Carvajal - 8/10 - Had a lot of work to do in the first half, including a clearance off the line. Maintained that level after the break and even popped up with a crucial goal.

CB: Antonio Rudiger - 6/10 - Hugged Ramos and then proceeded to get into a number of fights with the Madrid icon, obviously.

CB: David Alaba - 6/10 - Was largely impressive but his own goal put an obvious downer on things.

LB: Ferland Mendy - 5/10 - Sevilla had plenty of success down Mendy's wing. When he's not on top of his game defensively, he's not really offering anything at all.

DM: Aurelien Tchouameni - 5/10 - Didn't shield his defence well enough. Often caught too high up the pitch, leaving plenty of space behind him.

CM: Federico Valverde - 5/10 - Seemed tired. Failed to track a lot of Sevilla's runs and was often bailed out by Carvajal behind him.

CM: Toni Kroos - 5/10 - Some really sloppy passing but figured himself out in time to send in the free-kick for Carvajal's equaliser.

AM: Jude Bellingham - 6/10 - Really lively in the early stages but appeared to tire out quite quickly. Sevilla gave him no space in which to work his magic.

ST: Vinicius Junior - 6/10 - A lively threat down the left, driving at Sevilla's defence and usually getting in behind, although his end product left a little to be desired.

ST: Rodrygo - 4/10 - He admitted during the international break that he doesn't like playing as a striker, and that was evident here. Rodrygo was incredibly quiet and had no desire whatsoever to get into it with Ramos.
