Guide to helping Pokémon GO players complete the Vivillon challenge through online friend codes.

For its Pokémon GO debut, Niantic Labs has created a unique challenge for Vivillon. Scatted across the globe are 18 different pattern variations for Vivillon. If players send friends enough postcards from the same region they will earn a Vivillon sub medal and a Scatterbug encounter. The pattern of the eventual Vivillon depends on the region in which the sub-medal was earned. One of the patterns players have struggled to find is the Ocean pattern.

Niantic Labs recently tweeted a map that offers players a rough estimate of where each Vivillon's habitat is located. Players immediately noticed that in the state of Hawaii, Ocean pattern Villon is there. Not everyone lives near the Hawaiian islands or has someone from there friended on Pokémon GO.

Luckily players do not need to make a flight to Honolulu just to make a new friend on Pokémon GO. Thanks to the internet and the friendly nature of the Pokémon GO community players have offered their friend codes online. Social media and fan-made sites like Leek Duck's have created simple tools for players to share and find specific friend codes to assist with the Villon challenge.

What is nice about Leek Duck's Pen Pal site is that players can categorize friend codes by which Villon pattern they need. So whether the Ocean pattern is in Ohio or Hawaii you should be good to start sending away postcards.

Of course, if you prefer to do things the old fashion way and meet new friends through Pokémon GO to naturally get all 18 Villon no one will stop you but it will take much longer.
