Breaking down the PGA Championship payout for 2023 at Oak Hill with a look at how the prize money breaks down by position for the purse this year.

Leading up to the 2023 PGA Championship, many of the players out on the course talked about how we could see a US Open-type of test for the best golfers in the world at Oak Hill Country Club. And the Rochester, NY course has delivered that with a phenomenal major championship.

If you need any evidence that the 2023 PGA Championship has been fantastic, fewer than 10 players were under par entering Sunday's final round and the top of the leaderboard with the guys who had gone low was absolutely loaded with Brooks Koepka leading the way but having Viktor Hovland, Scottie Scheffler, Corey Conners, Bryson DeChambeau and even Rory McIlroy all within five strokes of the lead.

In addition major championship glory at a phenomenal test that would earn them the Wanamaker Trophy, though, all of these major players in the game of golf were vying for their share of the 2023 PGA Championship purse and prize money. The purse was set at a record $17.5 million for the tournament, the most ever handed out by the PGA of America.

The winner of the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill will take home the biggest prize in the event's history, a whopping $3.15 million, along with the Wanamaker Trophy and putting their name among the list of major champions, either for the first time or for another time in the case of Koepka and some others.

With the PGA Championship offering the massive $17.5 million purse, the Top 32 finishers at Oak Hill all earn at least $100,000. Moreover, whoever wins will receive just a few hundred-thousand dollars fewer than what Jon Rahm got for winning The Masters in April. All told, though, this is a monster payday for everyone who does well. And even the players who missed the cut but played the full 36 holes prior to that will receive $4,000, a nice gesture for making it into the field.
