Pep Guardiola explains where new Man City signing Matheus Nunes must improve.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted new signing Matheus Nunes must improve his decision-making before he is ready for a significant role at the Etihad Stadium.

Nunes joined City from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £53m on transfer deadline day and was an unused substitute in the 5-1 victory over Fulham before the international break.

Guardiola is excited to get to work with Nunes but admitted the 25-year-old still has work to do before he is ready for a major role in his team.

"He can play in holding midfield, he can play in attacking midfield, with time he could play at full-back with his physicality," Guardiola told a press conference.

"I think he has to improve in the first contact and decisions with one touch. I think it's not precise enough. Try with the ball like Kevin [De Bruyne]. His energy, The quality is so difficult to find. He will learn to be more precise in simple things."

He added: "At Wolves he played the last games as a winger, so he can play in multiple positions. That quality is so difficult to find, to that he is able to dribble through players and go 10, 15, 20 metres with the ball.

"In time he will learn to be more precise in the simple things, the first touch and first pass. With the way we're training and dynamic that we have, he will get it."

Nunes will hope to make his debut on Saturday when City visit high-flying West Ham United in a battle of two of the Premier League's most in-form teams.
