Paolo Maldini FIFA 23 Base Icon SBC went live Dec. 29 during the Winter Wildcards promotion.

Winter Wildcards is in full swing with promotional items in packs, special objectives, League Upgrade SBCs, a Swaps program and more. Prime Icons also arrived in the leadup to Winter Wildcards marking the exit of Base Icons from packs. Middle and Prime Icons are the only packable versions currently in FIFA 23. EA Sports released a Base Icon Maldini SBC after releasing a Middle Jarzinho SBC.

In previous FIFA Ultimate Team years, Base Maldini was less desirable than his other versions because he was locked into playing LB or LWB. In FIFA 23, Base Maldini can be position changed to CB making him just as viable as his other versions.

He might not be a major upgrade in squads at this point in the year for players, but Maldini is still an endgame player regardless. The SBC is coming in around 330,000 coins to complete from scratch compared to buying a tradeable version off the transfer market around 420,000 coins, as of writing. His tradeable card might continue to come down in price as players sell their items to complete the SBC instead for packs back.

There are plenty of ways to craft fodder to complete this SBC and it's available for 30 days.
