The St. Louis Cardinals MLB All-Star weekend has been…not great. Nolan Arenado is their only representative, and their former players are excelling.

The MLB Home Run Derby consisted of two former St. Louis Cardinals — Adolis Garcia and Randy Arozarena — battling against one another in the first round. To his credit, Arozarena made it to the final round, reminding Cardinals fans what they once had.

It was Garcia's turn on Tuesday, as he made an incredible catch in right field to rob Ronald Acuña of extra bases.

The mistakes of the Cards front office have been well-documented. Several former Cardinals are representing other teams in Seattle this week, including Garcia, Arozarena and even Zac Gallen, who struck out Shohei Ohtani in the first inning.

As I mentioned in an article on Monday, the Cards gave up on both Arozarena and Garcia far too soon:

"However, watching Randy and Adolis Garcia face off against each other serves as just another remainder of the mistakes this St. Louis front office has made over the years. The Cards dealt Arozarena and Jose Martinez to the Rays in January 2020 in exchange for pitching prospect Matthew Liberatore. Garcia, meanwhile, was DFA'd in December of 2019 despite some increased power production in the minor leagues. Both have since resurrected their careers elsewhere."

On that same night, Arenado commented on the likelihood that he could be traded at the deadline. As unlikely as that seems, the Cards star is preparing for any outcome.

"Yeah, I mean, it is a business, right?" Arenado said. "I've been traded once and I think that shocked a lot of people at the time. So, I guess, no, it doesn't surprise me anymore what happens in this game. But it would still be surprising seeing certain things happen, but I understand that there's certain things that probably should."

It's not a great time to root for the Cardinals right now.
