Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel will have "overall security responsibility" for the Gaza Strip "for an indefinite period".
Mr Netanyahu's made his first such comments about Israel's plan for Gaza after the war with Hamas ends in an interview with the US ABC News network.
