Megyn Kelly disclosed on her show that she had always 'admired' and 'respected' Barbra Streisand and her achievements

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former Fox News and NBC star Megyn Kelly revealed on her podcast that she was currently listening to the audiobook of legendary actress and singer Barbra Streisand because she “respected” and “admired” the veteran star too much.

The 52-year-old journalist was joined by the hosts of The Fifth Column – Kmele Foster, Michael Moynihan, and Matt Welch to discuss various current affairs including the standing ovation received by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the APEC summit in San Francisco.

Moynihan was explaining how the US executives have long struggled with how to deal with foreign adversaries while protecting business interests abroad and pointed to a book he is currently reading by historian Thomas Doughty titled ‘Hollywood and Hitler.’

This allowed Kelly to bring up the memoir she’s currently investing her reading time in and praised Streisand as a magnificent lady with a glittering career.

Speaking about ‘Hollywood and Hitler’, Moynihan said, “It is about how all the studios that were owned and run by Jewish guys like the Warners and the Mayers basically had to compromise in certain ways because Germany was a big market and they wanted to sell their films in Germany."

“There was a big debate about whether we should make films that even attack Adolf Hitler,” he concluded.

Kelly listened to Moynihan and joked that her taste was not “quite that high brow” but led her to give her own recommendation.

“I am enjoying my current book, which is the autobiography of Barbra Streisand, My Name Is Barbra,” she shared. “I am listening to the audiobook and she reads it herself.”

The veteran journalist admitted on her podcast that even though Streisand’s politics are “very, very different” than her own, she is not letting that get in the way.

“I admire her, and I respect what she’s achieved,” she said.

Like an ardent fan, Kelly remarked, “Did you know that for most of her childhood, she had no idea she could sing? She just wanted to be an actress, and it wasn’t until sort of late into her teens that she realized, people seem to enjoy my singing, maybe I can do some of that."

Kelly told the viewers that the memoir also has “all sorts of interesting stories about people like Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty and Marlon Brando”. She concluded that it has been “fascinating so far, and I like the way she reads it too.”
