Marcus Rashford has admitted it was 'not nice' to see Manchester City complete a historic treble last Saturday.

Man City's narrow 1-0 win over Inter in the UEFA Champions League final saw them become just the second team in English football history to complete a historic treble of Europe's elite cup competition, the Premier League and the FA Cup in the same season. The only other club to achieve said feat was Manchester United back in 1999.

The Red Devils did have a chance to end Man City's hunt for the treble in the FA Cup final at the end of May, but fell short as two goals from Ilkay Gundogan secured the second part of the trio of cups they'd win over the course of the 2022/23 season.

Speaking to the press ahead of international duty with England, Rashford gave his thoughts on Man City's treble.

"It's not nice. But it's football. They best team who consistently play the best football are going to win the most trophies. They've won three so well done to them. We just move on and it's up to them to keep it up. It's up to us to catch them up," he said.

"I'll say congratulations. It's football. It's nothing new. Just look at Barcelona, Real Madrid a few years ago - they were consistently the best team so will win trophies."

Rashford and Man Utd will be hoping to close the gap between themselves and Man City next season, with the Red Devils finishing two places and 14 points adrift of Pep Guardiola's side during the 2022/23 campaign.

Last season, however, was a vast improvement on recent campaigns for Man Utd - the club won their first trophy since 2017 - and there is optimism that with the right signings, they can challenge for a league title.

90min understands that Man Utd are interested in signing Kim Min-jae, Mason Mount, and two strikers this summer.
