Manchester United supporters' group The 1958 have released a statement in relation to Tuesday's protests against the club's Glazer family owners.

The Red Devils launched their new home kit for the 2023/24 season but were forced to close their flagship Old Trafford store due to a pre-planned protest.

United fans descended on the megastore with pyrotechnics and banners displaying their frustration against the Glazers and the club's delayed takeover process.

Consortiums led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani have submitted offers to buy the club but the Glazers are yet to select a preferred bidder.

The 1958, who have led various protests against the Glazers in the recent past, have taken to social media to give a follow-up on Tuesday's events.

"Let's make this crystal clear. Today was never about numbers on a working and non-match day," a statement read. "It was about sending a statement and the bad optics against this ownership across the world. The focus flipping to the fan contempt against Glazer decay rather than a shameless overpriced kit launch.

"We will continue to be fearless in any action or strategy we take. Massive respect to everyone who sacrificed their own time today to make a stand for the club they love.

"To the detractors look within and ask yourself do you really love this club? To the aggregators shamelessly peddling the Glazer agenda. Your time will come. To the obsessed rival fans. Concentrate on your own club and hope you never have owners like Glazer. To those who love our club we will see this out together. Keep believing.

"In the next couple of days we move to online sponsorship and email campaigns. Until they are gone."
