Man Utd announce record revenue for 2022/23 season with small operating loss, as well as projecting an even bigger revenue in 2023/24.

Manchester United achieved record annual revenue for the 2022/23 season in new figures just announced, despite playing in the Europa League during the campaign.

As UEFA's secondary club competition, the Europa League is less lucrative than the Champions League. However, despite a slight drop in broadcasting revenue as a result, United saw a significant spike in both commercial and matchday income streams to offset it.

Overall, the club raked in £648.4m over the course of the 12 months ending 30 June 2023.

In 2022/23, the wage bill was slashed by £52.8m due to automatic clauses in player contracts in the event of failing to qualify for the Champions League. But even with reduced salaries and record revenues, the accounts balance still came in with a small £11.2m operating loss.

Almost a year on from the Glazer family announcing an intention to consider 'strategic alternatives', the club is in the process of Sir Jim Ratcliffe becoming minority owner with a 25% but a hands-on role.
