NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos shone bright with "proud" as their daughter Lola received her degree from New York University on Wednesday, May 17. As many as 20,000 students and their families attended the event at Yankee Stadium, and the 21-year-old budding artist, who had just released her debut track, Paranoia Silverlining, hurried to reconnect with her parents.

Besides posing for several pictures with her older brother, Michael who is also an NYC alum, Lola was also photographed getting a kiss on the cheek from her parents at the Yankee Stadium. It was the same location where multi-Grammy-winning artist Taylor Swift appeared at NYU's 2022 commencement ceremony while donning a black velvet cap and purple graduation gown. The singer gave a motivational commencement address after accepting her Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa with pride.

Why did Joaquin leave home?

Joaquin Consuelos, the youngest son of Ripa and Consuelos, decided to leave home to begin a new chapter, and his proud parents totally supported him in his choice. The family had some significant changes in September 2021. It was a highly emotional time for them when the cast members of 'All My Children' left him at the University of Michigan for college. "We dropped him off at school and we gave him a hug β€” it was actually brutally painful," Kelly said in an episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan at the time. "And I said, 'I did not realize that 18 years would go so fast.' And he didn't say anything, he was just giving me a hug. But he turned to walk away, and I said, 'Wait, Joaquin, one more!' And he kept walking, and I knew that it was happening to him too β€” the emotion."

While Joaquin seemed to be doing well at school, Kelly revealed that a recent winter storm put her son and his roommates in a dangerous predicament. "Joaquin and his roommates lost power in their apartment," she told on Live in February 2023, jokingly adding, "I guess they were using the women's volleyball team's facilities, and they were just saying how nice their locker room was," as cited by Yahoo!
