Barcelona have announced they have agreed the mutual termination of Jordi Alba's contract after 11 years at Camp Nou.

Barcelona have confirmed they have agreed to mutually terminate club legend Jordi Alba's contract.

The full-back has spent 11 trophy-laden seasons at Camp Nou, playing over 450 games for the club and lifting six La Liga titles, five Copas del Rey and one UEFA Champions Leagues during his tenure.

A club statement on Alba's departure reads: "FC Barcelona and Jordi Alba have reached an agreement to terminate the player's contract with the club one year earlier than it was due to expire at the end of the 2023/24 season.

"FC Barcelona would like to publicly express its gratitude to Alba for his professionalism, commitment and dedication, and his ever-positive and friendly relationship with all members of the Barça family, and wishes him every fortune in the future. Barça will always be a home for you, Jordi."

Alba will leave Barça after helping the club win their first La Liga title in four years, but throughout the 2022/23 season the Spaniard has largely played second fiddle to youngster Alejandro Balde.

The Spanish international joins Sergio Busquets in leaving La Blaugrana this summer. The holding-midfielder leaves Barça as the club's third highest appearance maker having played 480 games for 721 games.

Alba's contract was due to run until the end of the 2023/24 campaign and he had previously spoken of his desire to remain in Catalonia, even hoping to be around if Lionel Messi returns to his former club.
