'I wish he was around to just see how funny my son is turning out to be,' John Stamos said as he recalled memories during late Bob Saget's birthday

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: John Stamos has been overtaken with fond recollections of his friend Bob Saget, who sadly died on January 9, 2022. Stamos claimed that the comedian gave him some fatherhood advice shortly after he and his wife, Caitlin McHugh, welcomed baby Billy in 2018 and that it helped him become "best buddies" with his little son.

Stamos and Saget have been good friends since their time working together on the classic sitcom 'Full House' from 1987 to 1995. On January 9, Saget, 65, was discovered dead in his Ritz-Carlton hotel room in Orlando, Florida. Authorities stated that Saget "accidentally hit the back of his head," and died as a result of head trauma, as MEAWW previously reported. Saget's birthday, which fell on May 17, rekindled recollections of times spent with loved ones, and Stamos recalled one such instance.

What fatherhood advice did Bob Saget give to John Stamos?

Stamos recalls telling Saget that he was concerned that he "wasn't as close" to his infant son as hoped, which prompted the 'Raising Dad' to provide some words of wisdom, according to E News. He recounted asking his longtime friend, "My whole life I wanted to a kid. How come I don't feel connected?"

Stamos then shared Saget's response, saying, "He said, 'Wait until the first time he laughs at you.'" He also claimed that he and Billy, who is now 5 years old, have been "best buddies" ever then, proving Saget was correct. Stamos continued, "I wish he was around to just see how funny my son is turning out to be."

'But just his friendship is my birthday present'

Stamos, who approaches his 60th birthday this August, was also reminded of the enormous party he had held for Saget years ago to commemorate his co-star's milestone age. He recounted saying to Saget at the time, "I said, 'When I turn 60, you better!'" after revealing that he had spent roughly $60,000 on the lavish event, according to E News.

Stamos said, "He owed me one. But just his friendship is my birthday present." This May 17, Saget would have turned 67 years old. Last year, Stamos honored his friend's birthday on Instagram with a touching message that included a statement from Jack Lemmon that read, "Death ends a life, not a relationship. Happy Birthday Bobby. I miss you madly."
