Parisian model Camille Rowe, who's the epitome of effortless chic, says "it takes a lot of time to look like you've done nothing".

Camille Rowe says looking effortless takes a lot of effort.

The 33-year-old French beauty forged a career as a model aged 18 after being discovered on the streets of Paris and was catapulted to major fame as the face of fashion houses like Chloe, Louis Vuitton and Gucci.

Camille, who’s the epitome of French fashion thanks to her laidback style, owns the “French girl thing” calling it her “bread and butter”.

She told Vogue: “The stereotype has become even bigger than what it actually is, and [the way] French people actually dress.”

According to Camille, Parisian style, known as “chic décontracté” - which translates to casual chic - is about looking dressed up and laid-back simultaneously.

She added: “It takes a lot of time to look like you’ve done nothing."

Echoing the late creative director of Chanel Karl Lagerfeld’s notion that “sweatpants are a sign of defeat”, Camille has admitted her aversion to tracksuits and leggings.

She said: “I ran into a French girlfriend on the street in Paris last week, and she said, ‘Don’t look at me, I’m coming back from Pilates! I was hoping I wouldn’t run into anyone.’ And when they do, they feel embarrassed by it. As a French person I find awful”.

The model is set to release her Camille Rowe X Reformation collection on 23 October.

The capsule collection reflects her relaxed attitude to glamour by incorporating dresses inspired by her own wardrobe.

She said: “In Los Angeles there is such a trend for the ‘clean girl’, so I just wanted something to look a little more decadent and sexy.”
