Why did CBS cancel ‘True Lies’ after Season 1?

Although the series follows the basic premise of the original movie, it does not bring the elegance and versatility of Schwarzenegger to the table. CBS set out ‘True Lies’ as a promising addition; unfortunately, it has been performing the lowest on the network, leading to its cancellation. Nevertheless, the series did manage to have its fan base who are constantly suggesting renewing the show for season 2 and are pissed off with the news.

In the last couple of years, there has been a huge incline in the number of reboots and remakes of movies. While some gather incredible viewership, others need more luck despite their best efforts. Moreover, viewers have become choosy and want to watch a good piece of entertainment. The Season 1 finale of ‘True Lies’ will mark the show’s end on May 17.

'Paramountplus bestie tell me you're lying'

‘True Lies’ has not been able to catch their audience’s attention, resulting in CBS’s lowest-rated series. The ratings of the show have been consistently declining, which prompted the network to drop the show. Fans were not impressed with the news and took it to social media while trying to change the decision. A Twitter fan wrote, “@paramountplus bestie tell me you're lying. Don't cancel #TrueLies . Please just make it a streaming exclusive or something. I can't lose my babies," while another added, "They need a new season it pick abc #TrueLies." One more user wrote, "#TrueLies needs a season 2. There is a lot of story left to tell and they are just getting started. The cast is great and so is the writing and directing. Uncancel @TrueLiesCBS @CBSTVStudios."

Many other fans showered their concern and sadness over the show's cancellation news through social media as one user wrote, "Hey @CBS, please change your mind about canceling #TrueLies! It’s one of the few good shows on network TV. Please give it another try, in a better day and time! #Don’tcancelTrueLies!" One more user added, "It's another reminder of wasting your time to watch a pretty good show that only lasts one season," while the other user respected the efforts and enthusiasm of the show's stars saying, "Disappointed to hear #TrueLies has been cancelled. It wasn't necessarily a good spy show nor family sitcom, but the blend of those two settings made it great. Oh, did I mention the actors? It deserved more attention & more episodes."
