Dr Terry Dubrow revealed he had a minor stroke and his wife Heather's encouragement to seek medical help ultimately saved his life

BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: Dr Terry Dubrow, the host of 'Botched,' claims his wife Heather saved his life following a horrific medical emergency. After marrying in 1999, the plastic surgeon and 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' star have been married for nearly 20 years.

Dr Dubrow is regarded as one of America's foremost plastic and reconstructive surgeons. He has been on various television series, including 'The Swan,' 'Botched,' 'Botched by Nature,' and 'RHOC,' along with his wife Heather. Heather has been in seven of the 17 seasons of the Bravo reality program since its inception in 2006. The pair married in 1999 and has four children together.

What happened to 'Botched' star Dr Terry Dubrow?

Dr Dubrow, the star of 'Botched,' has stated that he had a minor stroke and that his wife Heather saved his life by encouraging him to seek medical attention. Last Thursday, the plastic surgeon was enjoying dinner with Heather and their son at The Ivy in Los Angeles when he began slurring his words, and despite the fact that the episode lasted "less than a minute," Heather instructed their son to call 911.

The doctor told TMZ that this irritated him because he felt 'fine,' but he was subsequently visited by paramedics, who examined his vital signs and gave him the all-clear. Heather requested that the paramedics take Dr Dubrow to the hospital, which he rejected and then "hopped out" of, before the 'embarrassed' star hired an Uber to take him home. He said Heather phoned his medical friends to inform them of what had occurred, prompting his friends to call him during his Uber journey and eventually persuade him to stop at the hospital.

Doctors performed tests and determined that Dr Dubrow experienced a TIA, or transient ischemic stroke. A transient interruption in blood flow to the brain produces dizziness, disorientation, tingling, and numbness in the arms. Dr Dubrow also has a patent foramen ovale (PFO), a hole in the heart that did not seal properly after birth. The hole is a tiny flap-like aperture between the upper chambers of the heart. The atria are the upper chambers of the heart. Dr Dubrow's TIA was caused by a blood clot that went through his PFO and into his brain. Dr Dubrow recovered completely once the PFO was repaired, but he may have had a full stroke if it had not been addressed.

'I’m beyond grateful that Terry’s OK'

Giving credit to Heather, Dr Dubrow told E!, "Listen to your partner. If they are concerned about something, don't argue, don't ignore and get it checked out right away. What they see may be very different than what you perceive. Be grateful for those who love you. I love my wife, thank God for Heather and her persistence and insistence. She truly saved my life."

While Heather took to Instagram to write about her dear husband, saying, "I love this man with my whole heart. I’m beyond grateful that Terry’s ok, this could have gone very differently. If you see someone having stroke like symptoms- get them to the Hospital. You have 5 hours to get them treatment. I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to the doctors, nurses and techs at Hoag Hospital and everyone involved who helped us during this very scary time. Thank you for your kind messages, Terry and I are overwhelmed by your love and support."

Fans and well-wishers from the industry took to the comment section to show support for the happy couple. 'RHOC' co-star Tamra Judge commented, "So happy Terrys okay ❤️❤️so scary !" Gina Kirschenheiter wrote, "❤️ Love you guys! So happy he’s ok!" 'Claim to Fame' star Jenny McCarthy wrote, "Omg. Thank God he’s ok!! ❤️🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."
