Counter-Strike 2 is set to launch this summer, but will it be coming to consoles?

Valve made a surprise announcement yesterday, March 22, revealing Counter-Strike 2 — a new entry into the long-running tactical FPS series. In a Twitter post, the official Counter-Strike account described the upcoming game as being "an overhaul to every system, every piece of content, and every part of the C-S experience."

Alongside the reveal, Valve announced that the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test would also go live for select players. Invited players will receive a notification in CS:GO, prompting them to install the Limited Test. If you've missed out this time, don't worry. Valve has confirmed that more players will be added to the beta over time.

Historically, Counter-Strike has been played largely on PC though certain entries in the series received Xbox and PlayStation ports. CS:GO, for example, received an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 port, and is backwards compatible with the Xbox One.

So, with Counter-Strike 2 set to launch later this year, will we be seeing a console port?

Will Counter-Strike 2 be Available on Xbox and PlayStation?

At the time of writing, Valve has not confirmed if Counter-Strike 2 will be coming to Xbox or PlayStation consoles. The game's Limited Test is currently only available to PC players, suggesting that the full release might also be the same.

Counter-Strike 2 will also be offered to players as a free upgrade to CS:GO which, while received console ports on previous generation consoles, does not have a port on Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5.

As part of the reveal, Valve issued a blog update on the upcoming game. In it, the studio revealed that they plan to reveal all of the details on Counter-Strike 2 in the coming months.
