France have confirmed Ibrahima Konate's withdrawal from the squad through injury.

Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate has been forced to withdraw from the France squad as a result of his hamstring injury.

Konate pulled up in the warm-up ahead of Liverpool's 3-2 defeat to Toulouse on Thursday and also missed the Reds' victory over Brentford at the weekend.

He was supposed to join up with the France squad this week but Les Bleus have now confirmed that Konate has withdrawn from the team, with Chelsea's Axel Disasi called up as his replacement.

"Victim of a small muscle injury to his left hamstring with Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday in Toulouse during the warm-up, Ibrahima Konate was unable to play this weekend with Liverpool," a France statement read,

"His injury requiring approximately two weeks of treatment, Didier Deschamps, after speaking with Dr. Franck Le Gall, the doctor of the French team, recorded Ibrahima Konate's withdrawal."

After Sunday's 3-0 win over Brentford, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admitted he was not sure of the extent of the injuries suffered by both Konate and fellow defender Joe Gomez, who also missed the game.

Klopp will be sweating now as Liverpool's first game after the international break comes away at Manchester City on November 25.

The boss still has Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip to call on, but his only cover currently comes in the form of 20-year-old Jarell Quansah, who has managed nine appearances for the first team this season.

Left-back Andrew Robertson also remains out, meaning numbers are short at the back for Klopp ahead of one of the toughest tests of the entire season against City.
