'I was very upset'

Johansson was filming the next Apple film, 'Project Artemis,' on the day that Renner was involved in the tragedy, as reported by Variety. Renner had been working to free his nephews from under the snow car when he was nearly killed in a snow plow accident, which left him with 30 broken bones.

How the Avengers kept him cheered up

"I was very upset," she recalled. But as Renner's condition swiftly got better, the 'Avenger's team started making jokes with their recovering friend. "On the Avengers text chain, we’re like, ‘OK, you beat us all. That’s it. You won,’" she said. The text chain includes Johansson, Evans, Renner, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, and Mark Ruffalo. "That’s like real superhero stuff. It’s unbelievable."

While talking about Renner, the 'Jojo Rabbit' star Johansson said, "To not only see him again but to see him thriving and in such an amazing space, mentally. He’s a very spiritual person in general and a very soulful person." She added, "And you can see that in his work. It comes through. He has such a depth to him. And I just was so happy to see that he is full of life and light, and he’s also hilarious. We laughed a lot."

'No tears at all. A lot of laughs and smiles and hugs'

It was, "No tears at all. A lot of laughs, smiles, and hugs" when the three met, as per Johansson. "Leave it to Jeremy to take something this potentially tragic and turn it into something so inspiring," the 'Captain America' star said. Since the January incident, and after breaking several bones and recovering from chest trauma, the actor's health has improved at a rapid pace. In a recent update, Renner shared a video on Instagram captioned, " I’ve decided to push through the pain of progress (this damn shattered tibia) and take the new parts for a tiny test drive. The body is miraculous…. Even though I feel like the Tin Man, needing oil for all my new joints (hips, knees, ankles, tibia etc ) . Encouraged after this warm up to press on ( don’t tell my PT). 😂." In another video as he walks with support he wrote, "My PT made this for reference and to remember, you cannot walk unless you take one step at a time!"
