Tory Lanez reportedly begged the judge to not 'ruin his life' as he asked for a new trial in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It will be announced tomorrow if Tory Lanez, who was found guilty of felony assault for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in December 2022, will be given a new trial. He has refuted all the accusations and resisted the verdict with his team of attorneys.

Judge David J Herriford postponed a lengthy hearing on Monday, May 8, where both parties presented their arguments for a new trial or upholding the current verdict. Additionally, reporter Meghann Cuniff tweeted additional updates regarding what transpired at the end of the session, according to HotNewHipHop.

'I could be your son'

Cuniff tweeted, "Court just let out for the day. Judge Herriford is going to issue his ruling tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. Tory Lanez spoke to him before he was led out in handcuffs. 'Please don’t ruin my life. I could be your son. I could be your brother,' Lanez told the judge, who is Black."

"There wasn’t a commotion. A sheriff’s deputy was urging Lanez to shut up but it wasn’t a big thing. Herriford didn’t say anything back and Lanez was led out of the courtroom without incident. This followed loooong argument this afternoon. More details soon," Cuniff continued.

Cuniff also enumerated some of the arguments Lane's attorneys put forward in favor of a new trial. Cuniff said that defense lawyer Jose Baez asserted the defendant had suffered unfairly as a result of the love triangle involving Megan, Kylie Jenner and him.

What happened to Megan Thee Stallion?

Megan released a statement in 2020, in which she claimed, "I suffered gunshot wounds as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me. I was never arrested, the police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets," per Variety.

Megan disclosed later that same year that Lanez shot her in the foot, stating, "I didn’t tell the police what happened immediately right there because I didn’t want to die," reported BuzzFeedNews.

According to Rap-Up, Lanez was ordered to maintain a distance of 100 yards away from Megan. In April 2022, he was jailed for violating the restraining order. The case was finally resolved in December 2022 when Lanez was found guilty of three felony charges after Megan testified against him.
