God of War: Ragnarok's playtime was possibly leaked on Monday. The long-awaited follow-up to its 2018 predecessor, Ragnarok's playtime may be longer because of additional quests.

Clocking in at possibly 40 hours, half of which are related to completing quests, Ragnarok's playtime exceeds that of its prequel. While the original game takes about the same time to complete, side quests in Ragnarok add about eight hours to its playtime, indicating that it may contain more side quests than the original. According to a report by Insider Gaming, cinematic scenes in Ragnarok will be about three and a half hours, leaving the rest for gameplay.

This estimated playtime was first mentioned last year by God of War's Lead Designer and Director, David Jaffe, on his YouTube channel. Jaffe, who alluded to 40 hours being Ragnarok's goal playtime, added that it may differ according to those who want to 100% complete the game.

God of War: Ragnarok's file size may also be around 90GB on PlayStation 4, almost double that of its predecessor, a report from Gamerant reads. This, along with news of its possible playtime, contributes to the highly anticipated addition to the franchise. During Sony's State of Play in September, a nearly-sold-out limited-edition controller was announced alongside a three-minute gameplay trailer.

Ragnarok, which will continue the story of the father-son duo Kratos and Atreus, will release on Nov. 9. Exclusively for PlayStation 4 and 5, optimization for its platforms has also been a popular selling point for this new addition to the series.
