General Motors said on Friday it had made a "comprehensive offer" to the United Auto Workers (UAW) union in a bid to end the month-long strike.

"We have made substantial movement in all key areas in an effort to reach a final agreement with the UAW and get our people back to work," the company said in a statement.

The automaker said the new offer includes a 23% general wage increases representing a 25% compounded wage increase over the life of the agreement, with 10% increase in the first year.
