Genesis Scottish Open picks and best bets at The Renaissance Club this week as we have an outright, Top 10 and more PGA Tour expert picks for golf.

Hard to think of a bigger contrast than between Silvis, IL and North Berwick, Scotland, but that's the move the golf world is making this week as we head to the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club after Sepp Straka flirted with 59 in order to take the crown last week at the John Deere Classic.

Our Scottish Open picks this week are a bit tricky because, while players are obviously inclined to pick up a win on the joint event between the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, eyes are definitely looking ahead toward The Open Championship that begins next week. Subsequently, players might be getting into form for a major more so than trying to win, which is something to take into account with our PGA Tour expert picks.

Speaking of, we were close to a monster week as Adam Schenk flirted with a win at the John Deere, but we still went up 3.2 units for the week thanks to a Top 10 from Ludvig Aberg and Top 20 from Mark Hubbard. So let's keep this momentum rolling.

We're diving into our 2023 Genesis Scottish Open picks for this week with a Top 10, winner and One and Done selection with more PGA Tour expert picks and best bets beyond that.

Golf betting record in 2023 through John Deere: 41-110-2, +4.806 units (2-35 on outrights, 0.5 unit bets, 0.1 unit longshot bets | +3.2 units at John Deere)
One-and-Done record in 2023: $8,353,510.65 (Adam Schenk at John Deere, $333,000)

PGA Tour expert picks for Genesis Scottish Open: Winner, Top 10, One and Done

Top 10 Pick for the Genesis Scottish Open: Tommy Fleetwood (+220, DraftKings)

Before missing the cut at Travelers, Tommy Fleetwood had finished Top 5 in Canada and at the US Open back-to-back. That's emblematic of the golf he's played this year, and of late too, gaining 2.75 weighted strokes tee-to-green. Even better, he's played the Scottish Open beautifully, finishing T4, T26, and T2 in the past three years at this event. I think he's due to do it again with how he's been performing and a Top 10 feels like a nice floor for him with the combination of form and history.

Pick to Win the Genesis Scottish Open (0.5 Units): Viktor Hovland (+1800)

Yes, Viktor Hovland missed the cut here last year. No, that doesn't bother me. With an emphasis on driving distance and accuracy combined with long approaches, he fits the course extremely well. Moreover, we've seen the young Norwegian star elevate his game to elite levels this season and, while I think he's live for The Open Championship too, I'm riding him to win in Scotland the week prior too.

One and Done Pick for the Genesis Scottish Open: Tommy Fleetwood

We're going with Tommy Lad again in our picks, this time for the One and Done. He's playing too well and has too good of history at The Renaissance Club to ignore and this pick could pay nice dividends for One and Done this week.

Genesis Scottish Open picks and best bets

Ludvig Aberg to finish Top 20 (+200, DraftKings)

When you look at what it takes to succeed at The Renaissance Club, the big things are driving distance and approach play, though that's not all of course. Having said that, Ludvig Aberg checks those two big boxes perfectly, gaining just under 2.0 strokes ball striking last week. I'm high on the rookie and think he has the tee-to-green game to be a star. He showed some of it last week at the John Deere and I think he follows it up with a great finish in a stronger field.

Thomas Detry to finish Top 20 (+400, DraftKings)

Not quite sure why we're getting these odds on Thomas Detry for a Top 20, but we're taking them and running. He's finished T2 and T10 at this event in the last two years and has been playing well by the numbers, gaining weighted strokes across the board in his last 16 measured rounds, even if his last two PGA Tour starts resulted in missed cuts. He clearly has a feel for this course and is loaded with talent, so I love the value on him this week.

Alex Smalley to finish Top 20 (+230, DraftKings)

Even after a T2 finish last week, you might not realize how damn good Alex Smalley has been of late. Over the last 16 rounds, he's fifth in this field in weighted strokes gained on approach and has been gaining in the other three major categories as well. He also led the field at the John Deere on approach last week too. He's been dialed and, after a T10 finish in Scotland last year, I love this number for a Top 20 as he keeps in good form.

Longshot pick to win the Genesis Scottish Open (0.1 Units): Thomas Detry (+13000)

The same thing that went for Detry at a Top 20 stands here. He's playing extremely well right now by the numbers and has a great recent history at the Genesis Scottish Open too. With that in the cards, I think he has the talent to pop up and win this week.
