Epic Games has been in a long-running fued with both Apple over its stance on App Store fees. Because of this, playing Fortnite on mobile devices, particularly iPhones, has been extremely difficult. But, thanks to a partnership with Microsoft, Fortnite will once again be readily available on iOS and Android devices.

Fortnite joins the Xbox Cloud Gaming service as its first free-to-play title. All players need in order to use it is a Microsoft account and an internet connection. Players will access the game via their device's web browser, where they can use either touch controls or a controller.

Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney seemed particulary pleased with the arrangement, posting a Tweet which read, "Monumental news everyone! Fortnite is now available to play FOR FREE streaming to web browsers on iPhone, iPad, and Android via Xbox Cloud. No subscription required, no 30% Apple tax."

Xbox Cloud Gaming is currently in its beta stage and only available in 26 countries at the time of writing. "We’re starting with Fortnite and will look to bring more Free-to-Play games people love in the future," a post from Xbox read. "We want to make gaming accessible to the 3 billion players around the world, and cloud has an important role in that mission."

This will no doubt come as welcome news to mobile fans, who have been missing out on easy access to the game for some time.
