Final Fantasy 1 through 6 could be heading to the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in their Pixel Remaster forms, thanks to the games having been rated by the ESRB.

The information was posted to forums on resetera.com after being spotted on Reddit, where listings for the first six Final Fantasy games had appeared to have been rated by the ESRB.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) is the system behind the age ratings that appear on video games. Having been rated, it's a sure sign that the games will be heading to the listed platforms. Previously, Final Fantasy 1-6 Pixel Remasters had only been available on PC, Android and iOS devices.

The lsitings do not reveal when the games will be making their PS4 and Nintendo Switch debuts, and Square Enix has yet to officially announce the ports. Some fans have speculated that the games could be announced later this month, in time for the 35th anniversary.

The original Final Fantasy was first released in 1987, developed and published by Square (later Square Enix) for the NES. The game has since been ported multiple times over the years, but this will mark the first time it will be available on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

It's unclear if the games will be sold separately, or as part of a bundle. Additionally, it has not been revealed whether the games will join the PlayStation Plus Classics catalog.
