Erling Haaland has equalled the record for the most expensive player on Fantasy Premier League at the start of a season.

The striker took England by storm in a phenomenal first season on these shores, smashing the Premier League record for most goals scored in a single campaign (36) and leading Manchester City to the treble.

Haaland's heroics have, obviously, not gone unnoticed in the FPL community and he was a must-have asset throughout the 2022/23 season.

In recognition of his talent, FPL have decided to set his starting price for 2023/24 at a whopping £14m - a joint-record for a player at the start of a season.

The only other players to have been worth such a lofty amount - 14% of a player's total budget - at the beginning of a campaign are Premier League legends Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie.

Haaland recorded the most points in FPL last season with 272 and his price rose as high as £12.4m.

The second-most expensive player in FPL going into the new term is Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, who is worth £12.5m - a decrease of £0.5m from last year.

Haaland will look to start his 2023/24 campaign fast, with Man City opening the Premier League season away at newly-promoted Burnley, who are managed by club legend Vincent Kompany.

They then host Newcastle United before heading to Sheffield United and taking on Fulham back at the Etihad Stadium before the September international break.
