Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has received a one-match touchline ban after receiving three yellow cards in the Premier League this season.

Ten Hag was cautioned during the Red Devils' 1-0 win at home to Luton Town on Saturday after complaining to referee Graham Scott over the awarding of a throw-in against his side.

The Dutchman will now have to watch from the stands when United travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton on the other side of the November international break.

Ten Hag was previously booked during United's defeats away at Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal during the opening weeks of the campaign.

When asked at a press conference how United will prepare to face Everton without him on the touchline, Ten Hag said: "We have a very competent coaching staff and they will take over."

Despite Ten Hag's frustrations on Saturday afternoon, his side clung on to earn a 1-0 victory thanks to a second-half strike from Victor Lindelof, returning to winning ways after losing 4-3 at Copenhagen in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Premier League have come down stricter on managers for their conduct during matches this season. Man City boss Pep Guardiola has already served a one-match ban for picking up three bookings, while Chelsea assistant Jesus Perez was sent off for entering the Brentford technical area in their meeting at the end of October.

New rules also allow only one member of staff to be prominently at the edge of the manager's technical area at any given time.
