Google will simplify the process of swapping between two active SIMs on Android.

Currently, many Android devices offer the ability to have multiple SIMs installed at the same time, via either physical cards or a combination of traditional and eSIMs. Swapping between them isn’t a tremendous challenge, but it does take some effort. In the Settings app, you drill down to Network and Internet settings, where you select your SIM preference for mobile data or calls.

Several Android users have complained to Google about the number of steps required to make the change and have asked for the feature to instead be handled through Quick Settings, and now it sounds like that’s going to happen, 9to5Google reports.

Google confirmed via a Support page this week that it plans to make SIM swapping a Quick Settings option in a future build on Android, although it didn’t specify when. The request was initially made on the page by a user in 2022.

While we don’t know exactly when we’ll see it, the Android 14 QPR beta expected in December would be our first real option for it to happen. In the meantime, if SIM swapping is a pain point for you as well, an app in the Google Play Store will add it to your Quick Settings now.
